Wavecrest Labs Donates 4 Wheelchairs to the Michigan PVA

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., April 24 -- Capping off Michigan Paralyzed Veterans Awareness Week, Wavecrest Laboratories donated four powered wheelchairs to the Novi-based Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America (MPVA). Wavecrest used the four wheelchairs for research in developing a motor system for the assisted mobility market.

During the refocus of Wavecrest's business strategy on the automotive hybrid technology sector, the assisted mobility motor system was sold and the wheelchairs became available to donate. Rather than sell the excess equipment valued at $60,000, Wavecrest chose the MPVA to redistribute the high quality wheelchairs.

"We were in the position to help others, especially those who served our country," stated Anthony Offredi, Director of Operations and a past Army reservist. "Part of Wavecrest's vision is Public Welfare, to provide innovations and solutions that improve safety, performance, fuel economy, etc. Although we are focused on automotive hybrid market, we highly value enabling the public through our spin-off technologies."

"Wavecrest Laboratories has the right idea," said Maurice L. Jordan, Executive Director, Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America. "By turning a problem into an opportunity, the wheelchairs will enable others to find new opportunities in their lives as well. At MPVA we're eager to work with companies like Wavecrest to further our mission in Michigan."
