GEICO Boosts Customer Base to 7 Million

WASHINGTON, April 19 -- GEICO boosted its policyholder base to seven million customers last month when the company signed Kevin Percell of Shelton, Conn. to a new auto insurance policy.

The policy was sold in the evening hours of March 13 by GEICO sales associate Stephanie Hall of the company's Buffalo office.

"We're so excited that the seven millionth policy was sold in Connecticut," said Buffalo's Assistant Vice President John Zinno. "This is a state that we took into positive growth and we in Buffalo are looking forward to even more development."

"Our thanks go out to all of our policyholders who have made it possible for GEICO to reach seven million policyholders, from those who have had policies with us for many years to those who have recently joined us," said GEICO Chairman Tony Nicely. "Our low rates and dedication to giving customers a superior service experience have also had a helping hand in bringing us to the seven million customer level. We enjoyed our good fortune with celebrations in each of our 12 major offices around the country. All of our 20,000 associates worked hard to make this happen and I congratulate them."

GEICO associates around the country participated in a policyholder watch contest to guess when the seven millionth policyholder would be reached. Associates in offices throughout the country who were closest to the date and time earned prizes. GEICO also held celebrations in all of its 12 regional offices.
