Toyota Completes Kyushu Engine Plant

KITAKYUSHU April 18, 2006; Japan Today reported that Toyota Motor Kyushu Inc held a ceremony Tuesday in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, to mark the completion of the first engine factory the Toyota group has built in Japan outside its Aichi Prefecture heartland.

The engine factory in the town of Kanda in the prefecture has been operating since last December. It plans to produce 220,000 engines a year for Toyota Motor Kyushu's auto assembly factory in the city of Miyawaka. The assembly factory is making Lexus luxury car series models for global shipments.
