ORYXE Energy Announces James M. Cleary Succeeds Walter L. Schindler as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

IRVINE, Calif.--April 18, 2006--ORYXE Energy International announced today that Walter L. Schindler, chairman and chief executive officer since 2004, is being succeeded by accomplished energy executive James M. Cleary.

After guiding ORYXE Energy through a period of rapid and successful growth, Schindler is returning to Odyssey & SAIL Venture Partners, the venture capital firm he founded, which is a lead investor in ORYXE Energy. He will be a managing partner.

"Walter has been a tremendous asset to the ORYXE Energy organization," Cleary said. "I am excited to continue the pattern of success begun under Walter's leadership."

Cleary, whom Schindler recruited to ORYXE Energy's board of advisors in 2004, has a successful 25-year track record of leading energy and petroleum companies to achieve world-class results. Among other top positions he has held, Cleary was president and chief operating officer of STRATCO, Inc., the world's leading licensor of alkylation technology and equipment to the petroleum refining industry, and president and chief executive officer of Tosco Refining Company, then the largest independent refining and wholesale marketing company on the U.S. West Coast.

"I look forward to continuing to work closely with Jim and the team at ORYXE, both as an advisor to the company and as a venture capitalist," Schindler said. "I have enjoyed my interlude at ORYXE, and look forward to following its rising star. The company will continue to excel in Jim Cleary's very capable hands."

ORYXE Energy has recently achieved important milestones, including the opening of its first manufacturing plant in Pasadena, Texas; the commercialization in Texas of its first product, OR-LED; and the creation of a renowned team of scientists to support the vision of its founders.

Cleary has served on the boards of the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association, the Western States Petroleum Association and the Habitot Children's Museum. He was a member of the Trade & Environmental Policy Advisory Committee of the EPA and the U.S. Trade Representative. He received his B.S. from San Jose State, an M.B.A. from UCLA, a J.D. from Loyola University School of Law, and attended Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.
