Advanced Multi-Channel Sound from Pioneer Makes an Impact in the Car; Pioneer AVH-P7800DVD Offers High Resolution Audio, Video and More

LONG BEACH, Calif.--April 18, 2006--Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today introduced the AVH-P7800DVD, the first in-vehicle entertainment product to handle a wide variety of high-resolution audio technologies and high quality video in a one-box solution. The system combines a 7-inch high-resolution screen with touch control capability, DVD Audio, DivX(R) video and compressed audio playback, as well as attachment capabilities to Bluetooth(R) enabled cell phones, iPod(R) players and satellite radio.

"Vehicles are fast becoming the living room away from home and consumers want the same technologies they enjoy at home in their car," said Larry Rougas, vice president of marketing and product planning for mobile entertainment at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "This new multi-media system delivers the same high resolution DVD Audio sound quality and impact found in many high-end home theater systems."

The AVH-P7800DVD is a superior DVD Audio player capable of providing 96k/24-bit 5.1-channel high-resolution sound. Discs with DTS(R) and Dolby Digital(R) encoding including DTS-ES, DTS-NEO6 and Dolby EX are clearly reproduced, sending signals to discrete channels. The unit can be bi-amplified utilizing a built-in MOSFET 50 X 8 amplification and nine-channel high volt pre-amp to produce unrivaled sound. The player also features Dolby Pro Logic(R) II technology to matrix stereo signals into multi-channel surround sound. A 13-band graphic equalizer, 3-band parametric equalizer, multi-channel auto equalizer and auto time alignment provide key adjustments, tailoring the sound to the listener's exact parameters.

To match its excellent processing capabilities, the AVH-P7800DVD utilizes a high quality touch screen video monitor. The large 7-inch TFT display provides exceptional picture quality to accommodate DVD video, wide VGA (800 X 480 pixels) and QVGA. Unlike other in-car video products, the AVH-P7800DVD monitor receives video information directly from the DVD mechanism as component video creating the highest resolution currently available in a car.

Commonly used portable technologies, such as iPod players and Bluetooth cellular phones, can be controlled directly from the AVH-P7800DVD touch screen display. Optional attachments for XM(R) Satellite Radio, Sirius(R) Satellite Radio, iPod players, Bluetooth devices, vehicle dynamics, TV tuner and navigation are available to create the ultimate audio, video and information system.

The AVH-P7800DVD will be available in June 2006 for a retail price of $2200.
