NEW YORK - April 12, 2006: Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO, Nissan Motor Co., unveiled the all-new 2007 Nissan Altima and redesigned 2007 Nissan Maxima on Wednesday at the 2006 New York International Auto Show. Mr. Ghosn also announced that the next generation of the Nissan's renowned GT-R performance car will be available in North America and badged as a Nissan model.

The GT-R, which was previewed in concept form as the GT-R PROTO at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, has not previously been offered for sale in North America. It is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in fall 2007, followed by the U.S. and Canada in spring 2008.

The next generation of Altima, Nissan's best-selling vehicle, and the significantly enhanced version of Nissan’s flagship Maxima performance sedan were joined at the show by three additional new 2007 Nissan vehicles – the all-new entry-level Versa, the all-new Sedan and the redesigned Quest minivan.

“In today’s competitive automotive landscape, there is no place for half-measures, no place for shortcuts and no substitute for great products,” said Mr. Ghosn. “This is the next generation of Nissan products, the next generation of SHIFT.”

The 2007 Maxima will be available in June, along with the new Quest and Versa Hatchback. The 2007 Sentra goes on sale in October, followed by the Altima in November and the Versa Sedan in late 2006.

Along with its distinctive styling, the fourth generation Altima utilizes the all-new Nissan “D” platform with improved body rigidity and a redesigned suspension with the development objective of making Altima one of the best performing large front-wheel drive sedans available globally.
