Infor Broadens Electronic Support Services to Help Manufacturers Gain New Perspectives on Infor Technology
Infor's E:Info knowledge base offers 65,000 no-wait responses to customer questions
LAS VEGAS, April 11 -- Infor, the largest global enterprise software provider focused on developing solutions for the manufacturing and distribution industries, today announced the impending expansion of its E:Info service at its Inforum 2006 conference in Las Vegas. The expansion enables more customers of Infor to use its innovative set of electronic support services to enhance the ways they apply their Infor solutions.
Infor provides E:Info free of charge to customers with an active support contract. The E:Info service enables manufacturers and distributors using Infor technology to find answers to their questions from an online No-Wait Response System that searches a knowledge base containing 65,000 solutions. Along with No-Wait Response, E:Info allows customers to access documents and downloads, order products and subscribe to the latest news about their Infor solutions, all available through this Web-based service.
E:Info was launched in 1996 as a service for customers with the Infor ERP XA enterprise resource planning system. It was expanded for customers using the SyteLine and Point Man ERP solutions in 2003 and the Infor ERP Trans4M product for automotive customers early in 2006. Next week, Infor will extend the services to those who license its Infor ERP VISUAL and Infor CRM AutoRelease technology, and the knowledge base portion of the service will become available to customers of Infor ERP COM and Infor's Distribution Group.
More than 200,000 customers use E:Info each month as a resource to learn more effective ways to use their Infor solution. "We expect that number to rise nearly 50 percent with the expansion of our services," said Infor's senior vice president of global customer support, Jim Byrnes. "Customers obtain a huge number of answers from our knowledge base. In fact, customers find 70 percent of the information they need in E:Info without ever contacting a support rep directly. Of the remaining 30 percent of their questions, half have been submitted by customers through our Web site and half by phone calls or e-mail."
The comprehensive services available to customers through E:Info include:
* Some 74,000 solutions will be available by the end of the first quarter next year as it continuously builds out its knowledge base with fresh data
* Document management, enabling users to search or browse for all types of manuals, white papers and other supporting materials
* Fix delivery, providing immediate downloads of software patches
* Incident management, to allow users to enter, update and review their support incidents online directly through E:Info
* E-mail services that send customers announcements of new technical product information, fixes, events and other developments relating to Infor support
* Online ordering of new product releases
* License key generation so that customers can renew their licensing annually by simply requesting a 28-character key through E:Info
To use E:Info, customers go to http://support.infor.com/ to enter their ID and password. The system automatically recognizes the Infor solutions owned by that user and displays separate menus of services relating specifically to each of those products. Infor offers E:Info to an unlimited number of users within each customer's organization. Currently more than 16,000 subscribers have signed up for E:Info. That number is expected to increase substantially with the April expansion of the service.
