QuVIS Flexes Single Server 4K in Norway

TRONDHEIM, Norway--April 6, 2006--Previewing the future of digital cinema, QuVIS treated an audience at the 2006 Trondheim International Film Festival - Kosmorama to the leading edge of imaging technology. A single high performance QuVIS Digital Cinema Server, in conjunction with Sony's SXRD 4K projector, presented previews of coming Hollywood movies in standard 2K, then thrilled the crowd with another level of image quality with 4K vignettes of "I, Robot, " "The Sound of Music" and DCI STEM footage.

The event was co-sponsored by the NORDIC project (NORway's Digital Interoperability in Cinemas) and managed by Professor Andrew Perkis and Bjarne Kjosnes at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. The screening of DCI specification 2K Digital Cinema during the film festival gave the audience a unique insight in what to expect in the near future. The outstanding quality and depth of the digital screening enhances the cinema experience and the 4K screening represents the future, captivating those in attendance.
