Detroit - April 5, 2006: Car experts say waiting until the last minute before bringing a car in for a checkup or problem can be costly. However, new technology is helping consumers reduce these costs by alerting drivers of a problem before it is too late. One such device is GM’s OnStar, a system that regularly monitors key operating systems such as the engine and sends monthly e-mails recommending when to take the car to a mechanic.
