MINDY’S MONDAY MINUTE
Capps, Sampey in Winner’s Circle Again; Bud Prince Also Joins Them

Moorpark, Calif. - (April 3, 2006) Ron Capps, Angelle Sampey and Melanie
Troxel all have something in common, besides racing for the Ringers supporting
team of Don Schumacher Racing. All three of them have been in the finals the
past two races, with Capps and Sampey both going onto the Winner’s Circle.
Sampey grabbed the No. 1 qualifier position at the O’Reilly NHRA Spring
Nationals in Baytown (Tex.) over the weekend and also went onto her second
victory of the season, beating out reigning POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle champion,
Andrew Hines.
Ron Capps’ Brut Racing team has got to be the sweetest smelling team in all
of NHRA POWERade competition, and not only because they sit atop the Funny
Car points right now.
Capps notched another win on his belt, also his second in a row, Sunday by
taking out a tire-smoking Bob Gilbertson.
The blonde Bud Prince Brandon Bernstein, also a Ringers racer, reigned
mighty supreme in the Top Fuel category, as he denied Schumacher Racing’s Melanie
Troxel of her second win of the season. Troxel has made four finals in
2006, with only one win coming at the season-opener in Pomona.
Bernstein’s 4.534/329.83 mph win on Sunday was his first in 13 races, with
St. Louis ‘05 being the last.
In Pro Stock competition, Mike Edwards used his Ringers DriverX gloves to
shift him towards the win light over Jim Yates. Sunday’s victory marked
Edwards’ first Wally since 2002.
Edwards beat out Yates 6.731/206.01 mph to 6.726/205.63 mph.
The National Hot Rod Association heads to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway in Sin City this weekend for the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals, April
6-9.
