VENTURA UP NEXT FOR CALIF. DIRT FOCUS MIDGETS; IRWINDALE CANCELLED

INDIANAPOLIS – The California Ford Focus Midget Car Series continues
Saturday after rain cancelled the second Focus race on the West Coast in
three weeks.

Drivers will be set to continue the Dirt series after last Saturday’s
cancellation in the Pavement division’s season opener at Irwindale (Calif.)
Speedway, which was called off after weepers came up through the track’s
surface following qualifications. Caitlin Shaw, an Albuquerque, N.M. rookie
in Focus competition, set fast time and is the early leader in Pavement
points.

Bobby Michnowicz of Torrance, Calif. leads the Dirt points heading into
Saturday’s second round at Ventura, Calif., which coincidentally was
scheduled to host the Dirt opener in March only to have rain cancel that
event. Michnowicz won the postponed season opener March 25 at Bakersfield
(Calif.) Speedway.
