A&D Technology, Inc. Releases High Speed Portable Measurement and Control System
ANN ARBOR, Mich.--April 3, 2006--A&D Technology, Inc. (formerly MTS Powertrain) today announced the release of the AD5435 Portable Controller. The AD5435 is a high-speed controller and universal automotive ECU development system that can be configured for a wide variety of applications by combining multiple I/O boards and CPUs running a reliable real-time operating system with MATLAB/Simulink(R) models and VirtualConsole, the A&D GUI support."This product represents an expanded focus of A&D Technology beyond the traditional Powertrain Testing equipment," said Rob Lamb, Global Marketing Manager. "While there are applications within the engine or drivetrain test cell for this controller, the unit is a powerful development environment for Rapid Control Prototyping and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing of Automotive ECUs."
The controller uses dual CPUs to accomplish both the user interface communication and the real-time model execution. It links to host PC through an Ethernet connection. The AD5435 controller is capable of running 50usec step cycles (20kHz max). VirtualConsole enables the arrangement of the screen by simply selecting control components from the library on a host PC, dragging them onto the screen, and linking them with MATLAB/Simulink(R) models. Moreover, the color touch-screen display and 14 function keypad provide an integrated user interface for stand-alone use, and can be easily configured by the user for various functions, including signal monitoring and Simulink(R) block diagram parameter setting and checking.
The controller is available with either an AC or DC power supply for laboratory and vehicle applications. The portability and ease of use make the AD5435 a "personal engineering tool" for modern control design and signal processing challenges.
"The AD5435 controller has been very successful in the Japanese Automotive marketplace, and now we are able to offer the same solution directly to our North American customers," said Yoichiro (Eddie) Koyama, President and CEO of A&D Technology. "We are excited about this new stage in our business. With a powerful combination of the traditional Engine Testing products and services for which we are known, and the additional products and technology that our parent company, A&D Company, Ltd. brings to bear, we are looking forward to providing quick and cost effective solutions to our customers."
