A&D Technology, Inc. Releases Enhanced Modular Data Acquisition and Control Software for Automated Powertrain Testing

ANN ARBOR, Mich.--April 3, 2006--A&D Technology, Inc. today announced the release of Test Automation, a modular, PC-based data acquisition and control component of the new Atlas MBD Model-Based Development environment. The new system architecture includes modules for test definition, an operator GUI and runtime execution. By using today's dual-core processor technology, the operator GUI and real-time control can coexist on the same PC, significantly reducing the number of systems required in the control room.

The modular design of Test Automation simplifies and shortens the test building process, and reduces the need for application-specific script writing. The base application software includes the modules necessary to run a standard power test on a typical engine-dyno test stand. The operator can then add the modules associated with the instruments specific to that test cell by selecting from a library of test sequences. This also allows the base test sequence to become independent of the test cell, as the I/O configuration is separate. "Test Automation significantly reduces the time and costs required for test definition and debugging," said George Shaw, A&D product marketing manager. "By separating the I/O configuration from the test sequence, a single base test can now be used with a variety of instrument modules across a wide range of cells within a test lab."
