Driveshaft Failure Ends Andretti's Day at Honda Grand Prix

Andretti Sidelined by Driveshaft Failure at Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 2, 2006) - A promising run was cut short as a broken driveshaft
prematurely ended Marco Andretti's day, resulting in a 15th place finish Sunday afternoon at the Honda
Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
Andretti started the event from 10th place and kept the #26 NYSE car among the top 10
throughout the first 32 laps. He dropped one spot during his initial pit stop while the crew worked to repair
his in-car radio. Maintaining 11th place, he made another pit stop under yellow flag conditions on lap 55,
and just four laps later while making a quick splash-and-go stop, he suffered the driveshaft failure.
Helio Castroneves earned the victory with Scott Dixon second, Team 7-Eleven driver Tony
Kanaan third, XM Satellite Radio driver Bryan Herta fourth and Vitor Meira fifth.
Andretti and the IndyCar Series return to action in three weeks when they visit Twin Ring Motegi
in Motegi, Japan, for the Indy Japan 300 on April 22. The event will be televised by ESPN, beginning at
12 p.m. (EDT).

Marco Andretti, #26 NYSE Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"At the start of the race, the NYSE guys gave me an awesome car. I think our handling was hurt a
little bit when Dan (Wheldon) and I touched, but just a little bit. Then the driveshaft broke again. I'm not
grabbing first gear too early, but I guess that I let off the clutch too quick. I was consciously thinking about
it, to make sure I slipped the clutch, but obviously not enough."

Kyle Moyer, General Manager, Andretti Green Racing:
"We were doing okay until we had our part failure. The biggest thing is that Marco was finally
getting to run some race laps. Even though we only ran half the race, I think we learned a lot in that time.
We still have a lot of improvement to make and breaking another driveshaft doesn't help the situation."
