Herta Scores Fourth-Place Finish in XM Satellite Radio
Car
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (April 2, 2006) - Bryan Herta, driver of the #7 XM Satellite Radio car,
drove a physically-draining race at Sunday's running of the second annual Honda Grand Prix of St.
Petersburg and collected a fourth-place result, his best finish since a win at Michigan in 2005. Herta is
currently in seventh place in the driver championship standings, five points out of fifth place and 44 behind
the leader.
Herta, who started sixth, stayed on the track when the cars in front of him made pit stops on lap 54 of
the 100-lap race. The move put Herta in second place and on an alternate pit sequence. Herta's final pit
stop came on lap 68 when the XM Satellite Radio crew put him back on the track with a flawless stop. Herta
was running in sixth position when Tomas Scheckter and Buddy Rice collided on lap 97, moving him to the
fourth position as the race ended under yellow-flag conditions.
Helio Castroneves won the first road course race of the 2006 season and Scott Dixon finished
second. Herta's AGR teammate Tony Kanaan finished third and Vitor Meira rounded out the top five.
The third of 14 races on the 2006 Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series schedule goes green from
Motegi, Japan, on Saturday, April 22. The 200-lap Indy Japan 300 will be broadcast on ESPN at 12 p.m.
(EDT) on Saturday, April 22.
Bryan Herta, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"It was a tough race out there today. It was good, though. We had a lot of green-flag racing and it
was an exciting event. The XM Satellite Radio car was really good today, the traffic just didn't play out right
for us. But, it was important for the team to come out and get some points and that's something we can build
on. I'm ecstatic that we are coming back to St. Petersburg for another Honda Grand Prix. This is a great
venue with a big crowd and we put on great races here. I'd be happy if we had 15 of these on our schedule."
George Klotz, Team Manager, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"The XM Satellite Radio team is getting things going in the right direction. We would obviously have
liked to finish higher, but we'll take fourth place. We had a really good car in the race and got stuck behind
some traffic in the end and that really killed us, but you can't control that. The XM Satellite Radio crew did a
great job, just like they normally do. It was just an all-around team effort today."
