JEG'S & Speedco unveil new NHRA Manufacturer's Midway display
HOUSTON (March 31) -- JEG'S Automotive Inc., a leader in the high
performance parts mail-order business, will increase its presence at NHRA national
events through a collaborative effort with SpeedCo Truck Lube and Sioux City
Kenworth Truck & Trailer.
The three companies will use this weekend's NHRA Spring Nationals to unveil
a giant, 2,500 square foot, state-of-the-art display trailer on the
Manufacturer's Midway to showcase their product lines and services, including Jeg's
industry-leading 1-2 Day Free Nationwide Delivery and 24-hour Tech Service and
Ordering Helpline.
"First and foremost, we're drag racers," said Jeg Coughlin Jr., one of four
drag racing sons of company founder Jeg Coughlin Sr., who piloted a Top Fuel
car in his heyday. "Because of that, and the fact we've all worked on our own
race cars and daily drivers from Day 1, we know what do-it-yourselfers want
and need from a mail-order company.
"This new display on the NHRA's Manufacturer Midway deepens our commitment
to our customers and fans by providing them a place where they can actually
put their arms around what we do for them. The fans of drag racing are our kind
of people and we do everything we can to service them for all of their parts
needs."
Visitors to the new display can obtain contingency stickers, sign up for
Jeg's latest mail-order catalog, get up-close and personal with a variety of
Jeg's-sponsored race cars -- including many built by Jeg's customers themselves,
watch interactive videos on the accomplishments of the Jeg's Mail Order race
team, view the process by which an order is placed, filled, and delivered,
and follow the evolution of Jeg's Mail Order from a small speed shop in
Columbus to the massive organization it has become.
Paul "torch" Le Sage, trackside representative for Speedco Truck Lube, a
quick change lube and tire center for 18 wheelers, is pleased to team up with
JEG'S. "They've been looking to have a footprint in the Midway for some time
and this union with Speedco works perfectly into their future plans of
exploring the trucker demographic," LeSage said. "It's a market they haven't entered
yet so we're all hopeful that the numerous Speedco guests and fans that stop
by our shared display will yield some business opportunities.
Speedco is the only national network specializing in quick lube and tire
service for heavy-duty trucks. The company opened its first quick lube truck
location in October 1991. Since then Speedco has added tires and tire service
to its list of offerings in a number of locations, with the goal of offering
tires at all of its stores in the next two years. The company is
headquartered in Cayuga, Ind.; Bandag, the nation's largest maker of tire retreads, owns
a majority interest in the company.
"Speedco's operation is run by President and CEO Mark Clark, who comes from
a drag racing family. He has ambitious plans for the company. the company
will add 13 more stores by the end of '06, bringing us to 52 overall. Speedco's
objective is to have 100 locations by the end of 2009. "We will all grow
together in this new venture," said Clark.
"Like everything we do at JEG'S, this new venture will have a constantly
evolving form," said public relations spokesperson Scott Woodruff. "We'll be
monitoring this display very closely to see what fans want and need, what they
like, and things that maybe could be better. Our goal is to make it a
'must-see' part of the NHRA drag racing experience, for us, Speedco, and Sioux City
Kenworth Truck & Trailer."
