Contact: John Cardinale (707) 933-3907 ****MEDIA ADVISORY**** Manteca's Scott Speed, America's First Formula One Driver since 1993, Featured at Infineon Raceway WHAT: Infineon Raceway will formally introduce Manteca's Scott Speed to the Northern California media during a press conference and driving demonstration. Speed is the first American driver to compete in Formula One since Michael Andretti in 1993. He races for Scuderia Toro Rosso (Italian for Red Bull) in this, his rookie Formula One season. WHERE: Infineon Raceway Karting Center, Highways 37 and 121, Sonoma, 800-870-RACE (www.infineonraceway.com <http://www.infineonraceway.com/> ) WHEN : Wednesday, April 5, 11 a.m. JIM RUSSELL RACING SCHOOLS CONNECTION: Speed began his open-wheel racing career at the Jim Russell Racing Schools, which is based at Infineon Raceway, Speed's home track. Speed captured the first Jim Russell/RACER Magazine Trophy in 2000 and had a banner year in 2001, winning the SCCA Formula Russell Championship, as well as being named Rookie of the Year. Speed was discovered at Infineon Raceway in 2003 at a Red Bull American Formula One Driver Search. 2006 FORMULA ONE SEASON THUS FAR: Speed has competed in two Formula One races this season, taking 13th in Bahrain (March 12) and 16th in Malaysia (March 19). He competes this weekend in the Australian Grand Prix. VISUAL: In addition to the press conference, Speed will take a few laps around the 16-turn, three-quarter mile kart track in a Jim Russell Racing School kart for media members.
