Setzer Hopes to Get Back to Winning Ways at Martinsville
Only Repeat Winner at Speedway Hopes to Score First Win of 2006 at His
Favorite Track
MARTINSVILLE, VA – Ask Dennis Setzer what his favorite track is on the
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series circuit and you’ll quickly get an answer.
Martinsville. Yes, Martinsville, which for many drivers is not anywhere near the top
of their wish list. However, it’s a true driver assessment to the only r
epeat winner at the .526-mile short track.
The historic Virginia race track has been a fixture on the NCTS schedule
since the series’ inaugural 1995 season, and NASCAR since 1949. Setzer, who
will make his debut in his brand new No. E85 FlexFuel Silverado, has had the
most success at the flat, paperclip-like oval than any other Craftsman Truck
Series driver. Not only is Setzer the only repeat winner at the track (2002
and 2003), but he has the most top-three finishes (5), and has won the most
prize money ($210,500+), in NCTS history at the track.
"It’s really great to get back to some short track racing, and what better
place than my favorite track – Martinsville Speedway. We’ve had some good
runs there and have gotten some big wins there over the past few years, but
last year was really not that great. We had a couple of cut tires in the
first event and a lot of things to overcome in the second race. I think our best
finish was nineteenth and we had one of thirty-third… so, really an
uncharacteristic year for us at Martinsville in 2005.??
Setzer, who competed in the familiar No. 46 race truck over the past five
years, is competing with a new look and new number in 2006. His forty-six has
changed
to the eighty-five to support General Motors promotion of their fleet of
Ethanol-Capable vehicles. The newly numbered vehicle (formerly No. 46),
featuring a

brand-new paint scheme, was unveiled as part of a major GM E85 marketing and
advertising campaign announced at the show. The innovative partnership is
designed to promote E85 use and showcase GM’s E85 FlexFuel vehicle leadership
to U.S. consumers – including millions of loyal NASCAR fans – throughout the
year.
“Martinsville is a great track for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series to
compete on and it’s a great race for the fans to watch,?? Setzer also stated.
The track is in really great condition with the changes that they have made
there. The racing is back in the hands of the driver. It’s all about
horsepower, braking and set up. Aerodynamics is totally out of the formula. We are
looking to score a win here in our E85 FlexFuel Silverado to get some
momentum going for the remainder of the season.??
