Spicer® Chassis Replacement Upper Control Arm Assembly
for Silverado Trucks, Hummers
McHENRY, Ill. (March 29, 2006) - Affinia Under Vehicle Group has introduced a
Spicer® Chassis replacement upper control arm assembly to address ball
joint/control arm failure in ¾- and one-ton Chevrolet/GMC Silverado trucks
and select Hummer vehicles.
The exclusive Spicer Chassis upper control arm assembly - part number 502-1083
- features the Spicer professional grade ball joint and new control arm
bushings.
Spicer Chassis engineers designed the assembly to correct problems discovered
with OE control arms that occur in extreme operating conditions and situations
when the OE ball joint fails and distorts the case of the joint. When the ball
joint is pressed out of the stamped control arm, the contact area is distorted
and replacement of the ball joint is difficult or impossible.
"Installing a ball joint into a damaged or distorted control arm can result in
premature failure or serious damage to the vehicle," said Ken Myers, marketing
manager for Affinia Under Vehicle Group. "Our Spicer Chassis replacement upper
control arm offers technicians a complete solution in a premium quality,
professional grade product."
Not every vehicle will experience damage to the OE control arm under extreme
operating conditions, says Myers.
"In situations where the control arm is still serviceable, Spicer Chassis
offers the 500-1104 replacement ball joint, providing installers with a
choice in servicing affected Silverado trucks and Hummer vehicles," he said.
