Teens Get Rare Chance to Top the Cops on Drag Strip in Sonoma

'Top the Cops' Kicks Off on Drag Strip April 5 at Infineon Raceway

Sacramento - March 29, 2006: The Top the Cops' program, which enters its ninth season in 2006, allows high school students the rare chance to drag race against Bay Area law enforcement officers on Infineon Raceway's quarter-mile drag strip. Both are given practice runs, leading up to a final-round showdown between student and officer. For added fun, the officers will compete in his/her actual squad car and in full uniform.

The purpose of the series is to provide a viable alternative to illegal street racing and give teens a safe, legal and controlled environment in which to satisfy their need for speed. The raceway setting also provides for a more relaxed atmosphere as students and officers routinely engage in casual conversation and form long-lasting relationships.

The 'Top the Cops' season begins April 5 and runs most Wednesday nights through September. Gates open at 3PM. and racing goes from 5 to 10PM. The program runs in conjunction with Infineon Raceway's popular Wednesday Night Drags. Infineon Raceway, better known as Sears Point Raceway, is located at the junction of Highways 37 and 121 in Sonoma, California.
