LG Motorsports Heads To St. Petersburg
For 2006 SPEED World Challenge GT
Upbeat Team Looks To Build On Sebring Results
Detroit – March 25, 2006 LG Motorsports heads to St. Petersburg, Fla.
this week for round two of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge
GT Series. The three-car effort will capitalize on the positive
results displayed by their LG Pro Long Tube Corvettes at Sebring and
is focused on pushing to the front with pure horsepower.
Three-time former World Challenge Champion, Lou Gigilotti, promises
his #28 black and yellow flamed LG Motorsports Corvette C6, will get
the job done.
“We had a great car at Sebring,” assured a confident Lou Gigliotti.
“The car was a rocket and handled like a dream. Having Claudio
(Burtin) and Doug (Petersen) as teammates is a huge advantage for us.
We’re tracking three sets of data and getting tons of feedback for
the LG Motorsports crew to put back in the car set-ups. We’re
definitely a force as a three-car team.”
“I can’t say enough about Doug’s performance,” added Lou. “This guy
never stops surprising me. This was is first time out in SPEED World
Challenge GT race and he manhandles the car into sixth place like
he’s been doing it all his life! I love it!”
Doug Peterson drove the #87 3 Dimensional Services Corvette C6 Z06.
Starting 15th in his first SPEED World Challenge event, the former
Star Mazda Series Champion drove to an outstanding sixth place finish.
“I’m not resting on my laurels,” laughed Peterson. “Lou and the LG
Motorsports team put a great car under me and provided a ton of good
advice heading into my first race. Trust me, I know when I’ve had a
charmed day and Sebring was just that. Needless-to-say, I’m thrilled,
though.”
“I’m going to rely on these guys a lot prepping for St. Petersburg,”
continued Doug. “I know the horsepower will coming in handy down that
airport straight, but I also know we’ll be calling on the StopTech
brakes down at the other end. Temporary street circuits are a lot of
fun… although, at the same time, it’s hard to ignore you’re running
down a cement corridor. We’re looking for a ‘no-mistakes’ weekend.”
Claudio Burtin will return to St. Petersburg driving the #26 LG Pro
Long Tube Header's Corvette C6 Z06. Coming off an excellent 11th
place finish at Sebring, this is the first time Burtin will be seeing
the St. Pete track since running in the Trans-Am Series race back in
2003.
“I’m not sure how much the layout has changed since Trans-Am raced
here,” said Burtin. “Much of it looks the same and I do remember that
long and wide front stretch at the airport. And, as Doug said,
there’s some serious braking going on at the end as you make the
sweeping right that takes you back out onto the city streets. It’s a
fun track, though. You just need to pay attention or it’ll jump out
and bite you. Traffic can be tricky in the early going too.”
“Lou has really put us in great cars, though,” continued Burtin.
“Sebring was a good outing for us and we really made great strides as
a team. Our communications with the crew and each other have been a
great help for me transitioning from the Trans-Am cars into SPEED
World Challenge GT.”
The LG Motorsports’ three-car effort will be at the SCCA Pro Racing

Petersburg as part of the IRL Indy Car Grand Prix of St. Petersburg,
