Ringers Weekend Wrap-Up
RINGERS WEEKEND WRAP-UP
Kurt Busch Collects First Win as Penske Driver
Moorpark, Calif. - (March 27, 2006) Kurt Busch, the new kid in the Ringers
supporting Penske Racing South camp, took home the trophy for the Food City
500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday.
Busch, in only his fifth start for the team, had a strong car all day long
and has always been successful at the ½-mile high-banked track. He has won
at Bristol five of his last nine career starts.
His Penske teammate Ryan Newman drove his No. 12 Alltel Dodge home to a
ninth place finish.
The Busch Series accompanied the Nextel Cup Series at Bristol. Both series
endured wet, snowy and rainy conditions over the course of the weekend.
When the Busch Series was actually able to race on Saturday, Ringers drivers
Tracy Hines and Paul Menard, protected with UnderX by Ringers, were both in
tow.
Hines took home his best finish of the year, with a 13th, while Menard
brought home a 16th place finish.
The NASCAR Busch Series has the upcoming weekend off, while the Craftsman
Truck and Nextel Cup Series head to Martinsville Raceway in Martinsville, Va.,
for the weekend revels.
Ringers Gloves would also like to extend congratulations to Danny Townsend
and his VIPsports.com Top Alcohol Funny Car crew after their win in the Lucas
Oil Drag Racing Series divisional event in Bradenton, Fla., on Saturday.
As we celebrate the accomplishments of our racers from the weekend, Ringers
Gloves would also like to extend our condolences to IndyCar Series driver
Paul Dana’s family, race team and friends.
Dana was involved in a life-taking accident on Sunday morning at the IndyCar
Series season opener at Homestead-Miami Speedway after his Rahal-Letterman
machine hit competitor Ed Carpenter’s machine in the final practice session.
Both were airlifted to a nearby hospital with Dana succumbing to injuries
sustained during the crash. Carpenter was held overnight for observation after
being knocked out briefly from the impact, but no injuries were reported.
Paul Dana was 30-years-old.
