Broken Driveshaft Ends Andretti's Debut at Homestead-Miami

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (March 26, 2006) - A broken driveshaft suffered during his first pit stop
relegated the #26 NYSE Dallara/Honda/Firestone and driver Marco Andretti to 15th place Sunday at the
season-opening Homestead-Miami Indy 300 Presented by XM Satellite Radio at Homestead-Miami
Speedway.
Andretti started the event from 13th place and appeared to have a good start until he was black-
flagged for dropping below the white line to pass competitors on his start. His ill-fated pit stop came just
12 laps later.
Dan Wheldon earned the victory with Helio Castroneves second, Sam Hornish Jr. third,
Klein Tools/Jim Beam driver Dario Franchitti fourth and Scott Dixon fifth.
Andretti and the rest of the IndyCar Series teams return to action next week at the Honda Grand
Prix of St. Petersburg on April 2. The event will be televised live by ESPN, beginning at 3:30 p.m. (EDT).

Marco Andretti, #26 NYSE Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"First, everyone on the NYSE team has Paul Dana and his family in our thoughts. Obviously I
would have liked to have run 200 laps, but that wasn't the case for the NYSE car today. I might have
grabbed first gear too early when they dropped the car, but I don't really know. I screwed up initially to
start the race, so we shouldn't have been in that position at all. Overall, the weekend was alright, we just
had some unfortunate luck. I'm a rookie and I guess that start was too good to be true."

Kyle Moyer, General Manager, Andretti Green Racing:
"We did a rookie mistake right off the start when Marco went under the white line before the
start/finish line, but he wanted to get a good start, get up front and learn how to drive. That kind of bit us
and we were just going to buy time and then we just had a 'racing deal' when the driveshaft broke. That
ruined a day when we wanted to run 200 laps, but it wasn't today."
