NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES – NHRA SOUTHEAST DIVISION
BRADENTON MOTORSPORTS PARK

BRADENTON, Fla. -  NHRA Lucas Oil competitors in eight racing categories 
completed their second day of qualifying and time trials at the NHRA Lucas 
Oil Drag Racing Series event being held this weekend at Bradenton 
Motorsports Park. The event, which began on Friday, concludes Sunday after 
final eliminations in all categories.
Lucas Oil competitors in Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street completed 
their final rounds of time trials, while competitors in Top Alcohol Dragster 
and Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock and Stock Eliminator all vied 
for qualifying position in their individual classes.
	 In Top Alcohol Dragster, the top spot was earned by Selkirk, N.Y. racer 
John Finke with a time of 5.294 seconds at 272.23 mph. Gainesville Lucas Oil 
Series winner Aaron Olivarez of Sandy, Utah is second with a time of 5.316 
seconds at 268.97 mph, while Ashley Force holds the No. 3 spot with a 5.337 
second pass at 269.54 mph.
Earning the No. 1 position in Top Alcohol Funny Car is defending Southeast 
division champion, Jay Payne of Claremont, Calif.  Payne laid down a 5.675 
second pass at 245.16 mph to claim the top spot, while Danny Townsend of 
Muncie, Ind., is No. 2 with a 5.695 second run. Sliding in just behind 
Townsend is defending National Champion, Bob Newberry of Schenectady, NY 
with a 5.698 second pass.
Low qualifiers after Saturday’s final rounds of qualifying in Comp 
Eliminator, Super Stock and Stock Eliminator are Doug Stewart of 
Edwardsburg, Mich., Don Carpenter II of Conway, Pa.,  and Robert Shaw of 
Douglasville, Ga.
In other Southeast Division competition, Ben Donhoff of Melbourne, Fla., 
leads the TracStar System Satellites Top Sportsman Series field with a time 
of 6.402 seconds at 224.32 mph.
Sunday’s racing action will feature final eliminations in all classes 
beginning at 9 a.m. Final eliminations for the competitors in Top Alcohol 
Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Tickets 
for the event are $20 on Sunday and include a pit pass. Children 11 and 
under are admitted free with a paid adult.
