SSA Marine Receives Toyota Logistics Services' Award

SEATTLE--March 24, 2006--SSA Marine was awarded the Toyota Logistics Services first annual Logistics Service Award for "Distinction in Quality Service and Performance" for 2005.

The award was presented at Toyota's Logistics' Partners meeting at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dana Point, Calif. The conference was attended by over 150 executives from logistics firms including steamship lines, railroads, trucking, marine terminal operators and stevedores.

In presenting the award, Toyota officials noted that SSA Marine is committed to the principals of "kaizen," which means path of continuous improvement. Toyota also cited SSA Marine's establishment of mobile training centers for longshoremen in both Long Beach and Benicia.

SSA Marine Vice President Bob Wilder, who oversees the company's West Coast auto business, gave credit for the award to SSA Marine's operations personnel who manage the day to day vessel operations, as well as the ILWU who also play a key role in moving the vehicles off the ship.

He added, "We're honored and humbled to accept the award, and in the Toyota tradition we'll never say we're best, we'll always strive to be better."

SSA Marine will handle about 355,000 Toyota vehicles this year at the Port of Long Beach and about 70,000 at the Port of Benicia.
