'Infineon Raceway Idol' Search Begins in Sonoma
SONOMA, Calif. - Infineon Raceway and 98 Rock FM in
Sacramento are giving race fans the chance of a lifetime with the first
"Infineon Raceway Idol" competition.
Aspiring singers now have a chance to sing the national anthem at
pre-event ceremonies during the Big O Tires Racing Season at Infineon
Raceway, including the FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals, presented by
Supercuts (July 30), and the Dodge/Save Mart 350 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup
weekend.
For NASCAR weekend, the anthem will take place prior to the start of the
Blue Lizard Suncream 200 NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West
Series, on Saturday, June 24.
Other major events include:
* Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown, presented by Supercuts (May
20-21)
* Infineon Technologies Cougar Mountain Classic--cycling (July
15)
* Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma (Aug. 26-27)
To enter the contest for the Infineon Raceway Idol, contestants can
simply submit an MP3 recording of their best version of the national
anthem to jnelson@entercom.com no later than April 14. The list will be
narrowed down to 20 singers, who will audition live at Infineon Raceway
on Saturday, April 29, before a panel of judges.
Up to eight different fans will be selected to sing the national anthem
at Infineon Raceway in 2006. In addition, winners will receive
full-weekend event credentials and VIP suite passes.
