Wimmer Ready for Some Short Trackin’ at Bristol Eddyville, Ky. – 03/22/2006 – Growing up around the short tracks of Wisconsin, Chris Wimmer is looking forward to wheeling his #23 Keith Coleman Racing Chevrolet around the Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend.
Wimmer has two previous starts at Bristol in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. In 2005, Wimmer qualified the truck 20th, however, his day ended early when he was tangled up in a crash on lap 22. This will be Wimmer’s first visit to the Speedway with the NASCAR Busch Series and his Keith Coleman Racing team.
“Bristol should be an ok weekend for us,” says Wimmer. “I spent a lot of time on the short tracks in Wisconsin and have two starts here. Our first goal is to put it in the show. Then to stay out of trouble.”
Wimmer will be appearing at the Morgan-McClure Motorsports Open House in Abingdon, Va., Thursday, March 23. He will be available for autographs alongside brother Scott Wimmer, driver of the #4 Aero Exhaust Chevrolet, from 3-3:30 p.m. For additional information and directions, see the Morgan-McClure website, www.morgan-mcclure.com. Wimmer will also be appearing at the Food City Family Race Night in Kingsport, Tenn. on Thursday. This event will take place from 3-9 p.m. at the Meadowview Convention Center in Kingsport. Wimmer will be signing autographs from 6-8:00 p.m.
Busch practice begins Friday afternoon from 1:45 p.m.-2:45 p.m., with Rookie Practice from 3-3:30 p.m. The one-hour final practice session takes place immediately following the NEXTEL Cup Qualifying session (scheduled to begin at 3:40 p.m.), if time permits. Qualifying for the Sharpie Mini 300 will take place at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, March 25 and will air LIVE on SPEED. The Sharpie Mini 300 at the Bristol Motor Speedway will be televised LIVE, Saturday, March 25 at 3:00 p.m. on Fox. The Performance Racing Network (PRN) and XM Satellite Radio will also carry the race broadcast live. All times are EASTERN.
