Mentor Graphics Announces Expanded Availability of VeSys Electrical Series

INDIANAPOLIS--March 22, 2006--Mentor Graphics Corporation today announced North American availability of its VeSys Electrical Series suite of software applications for the design, analysis, manufacture and service of electrical wiring systems for specialist vehicles. Typical applications include competition cars, agricultural machinery, recreational vehicles, custom trucks and buses and materials handling equipment. VeSys eliminates many hours of traditional manual processes and prototyping to deliver working products to market faster.

"VeSys products have accelerated the electrical and wire harness design processes at many important western European companies, such as JCB, Lotus and CNH," said Enrique Ortega, Mentor Graphics transportation market director in the Americas. "We already have some VeSys customers in North America, such as Bobcat and Caterpillar, and are now making the software generally available."

VeSys products complement Mentor Graphics' Capital Harness Systems (CHS) electrical design flow, which is targeted at large, multinational organizations within the automotive, aerospace and rail industries. CHS tools provide powerful data management and process constraint functionality, which is typically required by these large organizations. In contrast, the VeSys products are designed for smaller organizations and can be deployed very rapidly. Particularly easy to use, they automate common electrical design tasks, thus helping to reduce time to market and improve overall product quality.

VeSys enables the elimination of manual re-entry of wire data in the creation of harness documentation. On the typical specialty vehicle this can save close to 80 engineering hours, thereby paying for the software in the very first use. Additionally VeSys Design is the only software in its class that with a few mouse clicks can perform 13 different kinds of electrical simulations and instantly view a circuit in operation, enabling engineers to verify their harnesses, eliminate prototypes, eliminate scrap and get working products to market faster. VeSys also comes standard with a wiring specific component manager that fosters collaboration with engineering purchasing and component engineers.

The latest release of VeSys Electrical Series (version 2005.2) is available immediately and provides several new capabilities, including:

-- Full integration of the design, electrical analysis, manufacturing and service products, requiring only a single installation and providing improved navigation around the software suite.

-- Usability enhancements such as web page component viewing and new search & replace facilities.

-- Wider support of 3D MCAD tools -- UGS Solid Edge, Dassault Systemes SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor and PTC Pro/ENGINEER are now added to the list of 3D tools that can interface with VeSys Electrical Series.

VeSys is being demonstrated at the WHMA Conference and Trade Show in Indianapolis on March 22-24. For more information please visit www.whma.org. For additional information on Mentor Graphics and the VeSys products, go to www.mentor.com/products/cabling_harness/vesys_elec_series/ .
