Automakers Increasing Stake in Internet Advertising

Washington DC March 20, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that while two-thirds of consumers use the internet when they buy a vehicle, online advertising by automakers accounted for 11.2 percent of last year's total online ad revenue of $12.9 billion, according to Advertising Age.

This year the percentage of total online ad revenue from automakers is expected to reach 15 percent.

Ben Hilverada, marketing communications manager at American Suzuki, says his company has doubled its online ad spending from last year and will boost its online budget another 50 percent this year.
