Mindy's Monday Minute - NHRA Gainesville

Moorpark, Calif. - (March 20, 2006) The Ringers supporting teams in Don Schumacher Racing's camp had a total of four racers in Sunday's finals at the ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla.

U.S. Army teammates Antron Brown and Angelle Sampey met at the line in the Pro Stock Motorcycle category. Brown jumped the gun on the start and had a red-light at the Tree, automatically handing the win to his teammate. Sampey coasted on to a 7.138/187.73 mph win.

Ron Capps, their teammate in the Funny Car camp, lined up with the reigning POWERade Funny Car champion, John Force. Capps defeated Force 4.860/316.78 mph to 4.990/305.49 mph, but Force's run was disallowed when he crossed the center line down track. Capps currently holds the lead in the Funny Car points championship.

The Top Fuel class saw Melanie Troxel in her third final of the year (fourth in a row) on Sunday. While she didn't capture her second Wally of the year, she went home with her second runner-up position of the year, after she erupted with tire smoke early on.

The National Hot Rod Association returns to action March 31-April 2 at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas during the O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals presented by Pennzoil.
