Guy Cosmo - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Guy Cosmo Set For 2006 American Le Mans LMP2 Championship Run
Road racing standout, Guy Cosmo, announced he is competing for the
2006 LMP2 Championship in the American Le Mans Series, returning with
the BK Motorsport Team and Mazda North America.
"I'm excited about returning to the American Le Mans Series," said
Guy. "We had a great season in 2005 and as we formulate our effort
for 2006, I expect we'll find our way to front of the LMP2 grid. It's
an extremely competitive class with an impressive line-up of talented
drivers. I'm motivated by the quality of the field and looking
forward to rejoining my teammates at BK Motorsport and Mazda North
America."
Currently preparing for the 54th running of the Mobil 1 12 Hours of
Sebring, the former Star Mazda Series Champion reflected on the job
at hand.
"I think people are going to see some terrific racing in the LMP2
class this year," Guy continued. "There's obviously a lot of
anticipation regarding the arrival of top tier teams to the LMP2
class, but I think you'll see everyone step up their effort. I think
it’s great seeing the bar raised. Endurance racing is never a slam-
dunk and when you look at running flat-out for 12 hours at a track
like Sebring, anything can and will happen. That's what makes this
form of racing so challenging and rewarding."
Recognized as one of the most successful and versatile young racing
drivers in North America, Guy ranks among the top-level road racers
in the world. He has earned overall racing titles and major successes
in many disciplines including karting, Formula Ford, Formula 2000,
Star Mazda, Toyota Atlantic, Grand American and American Le Mans.
Yet, it is Guy's extensive background between open-wheel formula cars
and sports prototypes that earns him his reputation as one of the
most diverse and accomplished drivers still capable of rookie status
in many series.
Known for his extensive experience in car and chassis development,
tire testing, driver coaching, data acquisition and knowledge of
tracks throughout North America, Guy is fast, responsible and
consistent. He has a solid history of excellent results while
preserving equipment and avoiding incidents. Always the consummate
professional, Guy is a favorite with fans and the media.
Guy Cosmo and the BK Motorsports team will compete in this weekend's
54th running of the American Le Mans Series Mobil 1 12 Hours of
Sebring. The 12-hour endurance classic is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
EST on Saturday at Sebring International Raceway. It will be
televised live on SPEED Channel in North America and MotorsTV in
Europe. In addition, Greenlight-Television will distribute the race
worldwide to more than 510 million households. American Le Mans Radio
will have flag-to-flag coverage available at www.americanlemans.com,
along with IMSA Live Timing & Scoring.
