Advance Auto Parts Promotes Michael Fogarty to Senior Vice President, Operations Support

ROANOKE, Va.--March 17, 2006--Advance Auto Parts, Inc. , a leading automotive aftermarket retailer of parts, batteries, accessories and maintenance items, announced today that Michael Fogarty has been promoted to the position of Senior Vice President, Operations Support. In this new position, Mr. Fogarty will report to Paul Klasing, Executive Vice President, Stores, and will be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of all areas of the company's operations support.

Mr. Fogarty has been with Advance Auto Parts since 1989 and held a variety of positions with the company. Most recently, he held the position of Regional Vice President in East Central Florida since May 20, 200603.

During his 17 years with Advance Auto Parts, Mr. Fogarty has held positions in both store operations and training. He began his career as a store manager and later became a division manager. He also served as the special projects manager in Florida following the company's acquisition of Discount Auto Parts in 2001.
