Rofin-Sinar Board Member Change

PLYMOUTH, Mich. and HAMBURG, Germany, March 17 -- ROFIN-SINAR Technologies Inc. , one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of high-performance laser beam sources and laser- based solutions, today announced, that William R. Hoover has resigned from his position as outside director of RSTI's Board of directors, effective March 16, 2006.

Mr. Hoover, who has been a member of the Company's Board since its Initial Public Offering in September 1996, has decided to leave for personal reasons.

"Bill has made invaluable contributions to the success of Rofin-Sinar Technologies over the past years," Dr. Peter Wirth, Chairman of the Board of RSTI, commented. With the retirement of Mr. Hoover, RSTI's Board now has 7 members, of which 4 are independent.
