Fans Get a Behind-The-Scenes Look at NASCAR Cup Series
Rookie via Online Photo Diary
VALHALLA, N.Y., March 16 -- What is it like to be Reed Sorenson the week prior to his 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series debut at his hometown track?
Fans can now find out as the Peachtree City native documents his sights and experiences leading up to this Sunday's Golden Corral 500 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) with a Fujifilm FinePix V10 digital camera. Sorenson's behind-the-scenes photos are available for all to see in a photo diary at http://www.fujifilm.com/. Sorenson's diary, which will be updated throughout the week, commemorates his Atlanta homecoming and will feature this week's Fujifilm paint scheme for the No. 41 Dodge.
"Fujifilm is honored to have Reed Sorenson carry our corporate logo and colors at his hometown track," remarked David Bailey, Vice President, National Accounts, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. "We look forward to seeing Reed's world through his photo diary and wish him the best of luck in this special race."
Fujifilm is encouraging fans attending the AMS race to wear Fujifilm green, white and red in support of Sorenson. Fujifilm brand ambassadors are set to scour AMS this coming weekend in search of the three most enthusiastic and colorful Reed Sorenson fans, and those chosen will receive a prize package from Fujifilm that includes a FinePix V10 digital camera -- the same model used by Sorenson to record his photo diary -- a 1GB xD Picture Card and a specially-fitted FinePix V10 camera case. The Fujifilm digital imaging prize package carries a retail value close to $500.
Sorenson's first full NASCAR Busch Series season in 2005 resulted in a fourth-place championship finish, which included a pair of victories at Nashville and Gateway. He took over the No. 41 Dodge in 2006 for his NASCAR Cup Series rookie campaign.
"I'm really looking forward to returning to the Atlanta area," said Sorenson. "I'm headed down early to visit with family and friends, and then later in the week I'm participating in a few events for the track and my sponsors. It's going to be a great week and I'm going to capture it all on camera. Hopefully, on race day we'll have the Fujifilm Dodge running at the front of the pack."
In addition to his responsibilities at the speedway, Sorenson will take part in the fourth annual Georgia Motorsports Day at the Georgia State Capitol on March 16, 2006. The event will commemorate the importance of motorsports to the state's economy and culture. Sorenson will participate along with Governor Sonny Perdue, Georgia House Representative Mike Barnes, Georgia State Senator John Douglas and AMS President Ed Clark.
