Gordon Finishes Fifth With Inaugural Nicorette Fresh Mint Special Paint Scheme at Las Vegas

PITTSBURGH, March 15 -- Driving the #24 DuPont/Nicorette(R) Chevrolet for the very first time, four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon made a late-race surge resulting in a season-best fifth-place finish at Sunday's UAW-Daimler Chrysler 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The result catapulted Gordon into the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series top-ten point standings for the first time in 15 weeks dating back to 2005.

The special Nicorette(R) paint scheme debuted at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway as part of a season-long associate sponsorship with Hendrick Motorsports for GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare and the Nicorette(R) brand. The paint scheme will return to NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series action with a second appearance on October 29 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

"I am pleased to have Nicorette(R) on board as a sponsor for 2006 and excited about the special paint schemes," said Gordon. "Nicorette(R) has been successful in helping people improve their health by quitting smoking. Through this sponsorship and the "QUIT Crew" program, we will help encourage even more people to quit smoking."

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Consumer Healthcare has the only smoking cessation sponsorship in NASCAR history featuring the brands Nicorette(R) nicotine gum, NicoDerm(R) CQ(R) nicotine patches and Commit(R) nicotine lozenges. GSK Consumer Healthcare's NASCAR involvement also features the first-of-its-kind "QUIT Crew" program that provides smoking cessation counseling to NASCAR teams and fans. Hendrick Motorsports, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, and Petty Enterprises have already enrolled in the program. For more information, go to quit2winracing.com.
