NayKid Racing Puts Top On for 2006 - Lux and White Debut
Viper SRT10 in SCCA T1 Season at Thunderhill
WILLOWS, Calif., March 15, 2006 - A year ago, NayKid Racing undertook a
ground-breaking endeavor with Dodge Motorsports, DaimlerChrysler's SRT
Division and KUMHO Tires to enter a pair of Dodge Viper SRT10 Roadsters in
the Touring One (T1) class of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Then, a
year of development was on the agenda. Now, with the recently launched Dodge
Viper SRT10 Coupe as their platform, drivers Cindi Lux (Aloha, Ore.) and
Scotty B. White (Puyallup, Wash.) are confidant that they have the
experience with the V10-powered, American sports car to make an all-out
attack on the T1 class national championship. This weekend's stop at
Thunderhill Raceway Park (Willows, Calif.) will mark the first time the two
production, close-topped KUMHO Tires/ Dodge Motorsports/ SRT Vipers will
race one another.
"I am so stoked that everything we learned last season transfers directly to
the new car, " offered White. "Let me tell you these Vipers are rockets
right off the trailer! It will be great getting a chance to knock fenders
with Cindi in the new Coupes and finally get this season underway. The cars
are beautiful, the crew has renewed determination and the drivers have a few
scores to settle from last year. This is going to be a very, very fun
season."
NayKid Racing became the first team to enter the latest iteration of the
Dodge Viper SRT10 last season. They had impressive results despite
developing the car, then a modified Roadster (open top) version of the
Viper, over the course of the season. The tally included the two divisional
titles as well as a pair of top-five finishes at the National Championship
Runoffs in T1 class. The success of the Viper SRT10, as prepared by Lux
Performance and NayKid Racing, set the venerable Chevrolet Corvette Z06-
which had traditionally dominated the T1 class- back on its heels. The 2006
season promises a head-to-head battle even closer than last year between the
two great American sports cars as NayKid Racing leads a growing group of
Dodge Viper SRT10s in the class.
"The switch over to the Coupes is a natural transition for us," said Lux.
"The lines on this new car are killer. When people see them for the first
time, they just shake their heads, have a big smile on their face and say
'Dodge sure nailed this one.' It will be great to have both Scotty and my
car together at Thunderhill. We can start some serious testing and fine
tuning. The crew is super excited having a year under their belts with these
cars and they are as hungry as we are to raise the bar even more this year."
Lux will start the defense of her Northern Pacific Divisional title
beginning this weekend while in the No. 78 KUMHO Tires/ Dodge Motorsports/
SRT/ Nike/ MOMO USA/ Forgeline Viper. White continues his attack to claim
another Southern Pacific Division championship for the No. 3 KUMHO Tires/
Dodge Motorsports/ SRT/ CORSA Exhaust/ Red Line Oil Viper. The
Northwest-based team will wheel the KUMHO Tires/ Dodge Motorsports/ SRT
Vipers in 14 races prior to the 2006 SCCA National Championship Runoffs at
Heartland Park in Topeka, Kan. October 10-15.
