IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY'S 
SEASON OPENER, THIS SATURDAY 

IRWINDALE, Calif. (March 14, 2006) - Irwindale Speedway kicks off its motor racing season this Saturday, March 18. Inclement weather forced postponement of the season opener originally scheduled for March 11.

“Saturday cannot come soon enough to drop the green flag on our eighth year of racing at Irwindale Speedway,” said Bob DeFazio, COO and General Manager of Irwindale Speedway. “We are looking forward to a great season opener which will be a sample of the exciting racing fans can expect to watch at our facility every Saturday evening throughout the season.” 

Opening night activities include Advantage Ford Presents Shav Glick Night, honoring the longtime racing writer with the Los Angeles Times. Racing activities on the ½-mile oval include the Lucas Oil Super Late Models (rescheduled from the 11th), Grand American Modifieds, Auto Club Late Models and the Justice Brothers Pure Stocks. Action will then shift to the “Figure-8 course with the Pick Your Part Figure 8's featuring Jesse James of the Discovery Channel's Monster Garage television series.

Gates open at 4 p.m., fan appreciation autograph session with take place at 5:30 p.m., and racing beginning at 7 p.m.

Auto Club of Southern California members who show their membership card will receive discounts on parking and on special items offered at the concession and souvenir stands.
