GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 14, 2006) - Jason Line doesn't care which car
goes to the Pro Stock winner's circle as long as it is one of the KB
Racing LLC, Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTOs driven by either his
teammate Greg Anderson or himself.
Between races, such as the time between the last race in Phoenix and
this weekend's NHRA ACDelco Gatornationals, Line can be found working on
the engines that power his and Anderson's cars.
"We have been working very hard to debut the DRCE 3 (General Motors'
third generation Drag Race Competition Engine) engine," said Line as he
readied the cars for the annual race at Gainesville (Fla.) Raceway. "I
have been testing at the local track with a high portion directed toward
testing the 3 engine. We hope to debut the DRCE 3 in the very near
future. Our preliminary test shows an improvement over the 2 engine. "
That last statement doesn't bode well for the competition as Line has
finished second and third in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock final point
standing the last two years and his teammate Anderson has won the
POWERade champion three times over the last three years.
After starting slow by his own standards, Line, who enters the ACDelco
Gatornationals fifth in POWERade points, looks for a quick and fast
track at Gainesville Raceway.
"I believe a combination of a smooth track surface, as well as usually
great atmospheric conditions, provide teams with an opportunity to set
new records at Gainesville. With temperatures predicted to be in the
low 70s, hopefully both Pontiacs will be able to take advantage of the
conditions. Last year, both Greg and I ran well in Gainesville,"
reflected Line, who is the defending Gatornationals Pro Stock champion.
Qualifying for Line and his KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pro
Stock Pontiac GTO begins with two sessions on Friday - St. Patrick's Day
- scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and concludes with two
additional sessions on Saturday - March 18 - also at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30
p.m. Line begins his quest for his second consecutive Gatornationals
Pro Stock title on Sunday with eliminations for all classes beginning at
11 a.m. *All times are local Gainesville time (ET) and subject to
change at anytime.*
