Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. Reports Restructure of Monona Operations
NEW ALBANY, Ohio, March 8 -- Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. , today reported plans to restructure certain of its Monona Wire Corporation ("Monona") operations. The company acquired all of the stock of Monona Corporation, the parent of Monona Wire Corporation, on June 3, 2005. The plan calls for the closure of its Spring Green, Wis. operations as well as an administrative office located in Naperville, Ill.
The Naperville, Ill. administrative office will be relocated to the company's corporate headquarters in New Albany, Ohio. The Spring Green, Wis. facility, which primarily manufactures and assembles electronic wiring harnesses for certain commercial vehicle OEMs, will primarily be relocated to existing operations located in Edgewood, Iowa and Agua Prieta, Mexico.
"This type of decision is never easy when it affects our employees," said Jerry Armstrong, president, CVG America's. "However, it is an integral part of our strategy of continuous improvement, cost management and streamlining of the organization, both from an administrative and operational standpoint. We sincerely hope that these activities have minimal impact on the communities involved."
As part of the acquisition of Monona, the company recorded approximately $2.0 million for the restructuring activities, which is included in its consolidated balance sheet as of Dec. 31, 2005. These activities are expected to begin during 2006 and be substantially complete by Dec. 31, 2006. The costs related to the activities are not expected to impact the company's 2006 estimates for sales, operating margin, net income or earnings per share.
