Even the US DOT Secretary recently touted aluminum as a fuel saving solution to improve our nation's energy security. A new study confirms that aluminum use is rising fast the world over, in large part due to its environmental, safety and performance advantages. A related study on the metal's potential cost benefits also will be unveiled. Finally, a recent safety study will be recapped as it relates to the relative safety merits of size/safety in the context of NHTSA's forthcoming CAFE restructuring for SUVs, pickups and minivans.
