Volkswagen Japan's Most Popular Imported Car

TOKYO March 6, 2006; Japan Today reported that sales of imported vehicles, including those produced by Japanese manufacturers, rose 3.4% in February from a year ago to 20,205 units, Japan Automobile Importers Association said Monday. Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and BMW remained the top selling brands for the second straight month.

Volkswagen sold 4,667 units, Mercedes-Benz 3,936 units, and BMW 3,032 units. Volkwagen had a 23.10% market share, Mercedes-Benz 19.48%, and BMW 15.01%. Audi was in fourth place with a 5.57% share.
