The new car features a raft of changes, most prominently sportier and more dynamic styling. Nowhere is this more apparent than on the FR model, which shouts ‘hot-hatch’ to onlookers louder than ever, thanks to its new front design, bigger wheels, badges, twin exhaust pipes and more dramatic rear look. And the best news is that the most powerful FR model – the 1.8 20V T 150 PS – now costs £11,950 RRP ($21,000 USD approx.) on the road, compared with £12,995 ($22,850 USD approx.) for the outgoing version.

The entry-level 1.2 12V Reference 3-door keeps the same recommended retail price as before at £7,550 ($13,275 USD approx.), despite the new styling and larger wheels (up from 14” to 15”).

Meanwhile, the range-topping Cupra models offer even greater value than previously, coming in at £14,400 ($25,300 USD approx.) for the powerful 1.8 20V T 180 PS, compared previously with £15,505, and £15,375 ($27,000 USD approx.), compared previously with £15,500, for the 1.9 TDI 160 PS – the most potent diesel supermini on the market.

The Ibiza is the top-selling SEAT model both in the UK and worldwide. When the last generation was launched in 2003, it won outright the prestigious What Car? Car of the Year award, as well as the title of Best Supermini. It then went on to come top in the Best Supermini category for the next two years.

Editor’s Note (For the U.S. audience): SEAT is a Spanish company owned by the German Volkswagen Group. Since 2002, with Lamborghini, SEAT became part of the Audi Brand Group. The company is currently in the process of undertaking a profound restructuring, designed to transform it into the “Nueva SEAT”, a remodelled company resting on the twin pillars of efficient processes and customer orientation, both supported by a change in organizational culture.
