Amelia Island Concours Goes Online With eBay Motors

Event Will Receive Portion of the Proceeds From Its First-ever Online Auction

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 3 -- The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Foundation, Inc. announced today that it has joined forces with eBay Motors to sponsor an online auction of several significant vehicles leading up to the Amelia Island Concours March 10-12, 2006. The auction will begin at 12 noon ET, Sunday, March 5th, 2006, and end Sunday, March 12th, 2006, at 12 noon ET. Several significant cars will be featured:

* 1939 Daimler Straight Eight Sedanca. Only Daimler vehicle with a custom-built Gurney Nutting de ville body. Features metal sliding roof and unique carriage-type side lamps. Displayed at the Gilmore Museum 1968-1992. NO RESERVE. Estimate: $125,000-$150,000.

* 1952 Lancia Aurelia B52 Ghia Body. Vehicle was the 1953 Torino Motor Show Ghia car. Estimate: $125,000-$150,000.

* 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Rallye Pack. Vehicle is former Hans Jacke car with oversized gas tank and servo-assisted brakes. Estimate: $350,000-$450,000.

* 1962 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster Alloy Block. Vehicle is dark blue over cream white and is equipped with disc brakes, factory hardtop, factory option white walls, and the original Hepco suitcases have been professionally restored to original condition. European delivery program car with original European-spec headlights. Full history. Former award winner at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, Meadowbrook Concours d'Elegance, and Mercedes-Benz Car Club of America Starfest. Considered one of the best examples today in the world. Estimate: $600,000-$650,000.

* 2006 Porsche Cayman S. Stuttgart's latest offering for the sports car enthusiast features a 295 hp mid-engine design. Car is brand new, zero miles, and is silver over black and fully optioned from the factory. MSRP: $69,735.

The vehicles will be on the grounds of The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island for inspection throughout the weekend and several wireless kiosks will be on the property for bidding. For bidders who are not familiar with eBay Motors, they are planning to hold a registration seminar.

According to Bill Warner, Amelia's founder and chairman, "We are very excited to be a part of this unique event. The power of eBay is undeniable and this opens up a whole new avenue to promote the show and what it offers; it's a wonderful addition. I want to especially thank the buyers of these cars for agreeing to donate a part of the proceeds to the Foundation." Warner adds that he would like to have eBay Motors as an annual part of the Concours.

The 2006 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance will be held March 10-12 on the 10th and 18th fairways of The Golf Club of Amelia Island adjacent to The Ritz- Carlton, Amelia Island. The featured marque will be Stanley Steamer and three-time Indy 500 winner Johnny Rutherford will be the honoree. The show's foundation has donated nearly $1.4 million to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Inc. since 1996.
