AAA Texas: Gas Prices End Four-Week Decline
HOUSTON--March 3, 2006--The month-long decline in gas prices across Texas appears to be over in most areas, although average gas prices are still lower in many cities than at this time last week, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average price for a gallon of regular self serve is $2.147 -- 0.1 cents less than last week. Beaumont has the highest average this week at $2.16, one cent lower than last week. Corpus Christi has the lowest average despite a gain of three cents to $2.056 a gallon.
"Prices began heading back up in most areas of Texas earlier this week," said AAA Texas spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. "Traditionally, gas prices decline during winter and bounce back in the spring. Usually, the increase comes after spring starts, so this increase could just be a slight one for the moment."
The national average for regular self-serve gasoline is $2.255 a gallon -- an increase of one penny from last week.
