StopolAuctions Holds Auction of Atek Michigan Plant

SOLON, Ohio--March 2, 2006--Nearly 120 registered bidders participated -- 66 in person and 52 online -- in an auction held March 1 by StopolAuctions L.L.C. to purchase plastics manufacturing equipment from discontinuing operations at Atek Thermoforming, Inc's. Belleville, Mich., plant.

Solon, Ohio-based StopolAuctions is the leader in hosting and managing plastics industry auctions.

Held at Atek's 44,700-sq.-ft. Belleville facility, the auction featured eight thermoformers from some of the top brands in plastics equipment manufacturing -- Comet, Brown, Modern and Shuman. The bidding for a few pieces of equipment was particularly competitive, including a 2000 Modern rotary thermoformer that fetched $210,000, a 1999 HAAS mill that went for $80,000 and a 1999 Modern rotary thermoformer. The event also featured an array of toolroom equipment and accessories. Total proceeds from the auction were not disclosed.

"The market for thermoformed products is picking up and this auction provided thermoformers with a great opportunity," said Don Kruschke, Stopol's Director of Thermoforming and Vice President of Business Services. "Both Modern thermoformers will help a plant increase its capacity, while the HAAS mill will raise a factory's output and upgrade its technical capabilities."

StopolAuctions conducted the live auction at Atek's facility and webcast the event on www.stopolauctions.com so that bidders from all over the world could participate in the event by using their PCs.

Privately held Atek, which employed over 300 people at one time, manufactured automotive exterior and interior parts such as trim, dash components, arm rest consoles and floor mats.
