Notes:
· Wimmer will be attempting to qualify for his first road course race on Saturday, March 4, 2006, at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Mexico City, Mexico.
· Wimmer will have to qualify on time for the event, as the #23 Keith Coleman Racing team finished 36th in owner’s points for the 2005 season.
· This is Wimmer’s first race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
· Wimmer spent Monday, February 20, at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Phoenix, Ariz. to prepare for the Telcel-Motorola 200 presented by Banamex.
· Wimmer’s first career NASCAR Busch Series start was at Phoenix International Raceway in November 2005.
· Wimmer failed to qualify for last week’s Stater Bros. 300 at the California Speedway. His #23 Chevrolet struck the outside wall in Turn 2 on his second qualifying lap. Wimmer was sore and frustrated following the accident.
· The Keith Coleman Team is continuing to seek primary sponsorship for this season.
Quotes:
Wimmer on attending the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving:
“It was a lot of fun. I learned a lot. I wish I’d had more time there. We worked a lot on the shifting. It definitely will help going down there [to Mexico City] and knowing what to expect.”
Wimmer on racing in Mexico City at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez:
“Other than the road course ringers and Cup drivers, when we go to Mexico, the playing field is a little more level.”
