S&H Motorsports Announces An Alliance
With The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation
HOLLY, Mi (February 28, 2006) - - S&H Motorsports, a professional based
ARCA RE/MAX Series team with operations based in Holly, Michigan proudly
announced today the alliance with the _Tim Horton Children’s Foundation_
(http://www.timhortons.com/) , the official charity of Tim Hortons, the largest quick
service restaurant chain in Canada with rapid expansion in the United States.
The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation was established in 1974 by Ron Joyce,
Co-Founder of the Tim Hortons chain, to honor Tim Horton's love for children
and his desire to help those less fortunate.
The Children's Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization committed
to providing a fun-filled camp environment for children from economically
disadvantaged homes. Every year, local children are selected from each of the
communities in which a Tim Hortons store operates, giving thousands of
children the opportunity to attend one of their camps. The camp experience is
designed to give children confidence in their abilities, pride in their
accomplishments, and the chance to gain a positive view of this world and their future
in it.
“I cannot tell you what an honor it is to represent the Tim Horton Children’
s Foundation,?? said the driver Howard Bixman. “It’s nice to be involved
with such a precious and special organization. We plan to bring major
awareness to the program and we’re excited about it.??
The Tim Horton Children's Foundation is dedicated to fostering within
children the quest for a brighter future and that means a lot to Bixman, a father
of three. “The Children’s Foundation provides the children with a way of
making sure their future is bright and successful and that’s what we need today.
These children are our future and the organization is doing everything in
their power to make them the leaders of the future, it’s very powerful.??
In 2005, over 10,000 children attended the foundation’s six camps. The
Children were selected from within the community of each Tim Hortons store. Each
year, local Tim Hortons store owners work in conjunction with local schools,
clubs and youth agencies to find camp participants who are between the ages
of nine and 12 years old.
The foundation holds summer sessions for ten days while winter camp sessions
are seven days. For many of the children, it’s their first opportunity to
try new activities, make new friends, gain a sense of independence and
develop pride in their accomplishments and confidence in their abilities.
The organization also excels with their Youth Leadership Program. Former
participants are invited back for a ten day session as part of this ongoing five
year program which focuses on the development of life-long leadership
skills, teamwork and independence through off-site wilderness trips, outdoor
activities and goal-setting. Last year, the program registered over 900
participants ages 13 to 17, throughout all five levels. After completing the five
year program, participants are eligible for bursaries towards their college or
university education.
The foundation has five impressive camps in Canada, however in 2001 Tim
Hortons expanded its efforts and goals by opening their first camp in the United
States. Tim Horton Camp Kentahten, Campbellsville occupies 50 acres of
waterfront property on Green River Lake, in the heart of Kentucky, just 120 miles
from Kentucky Speedway.
The Children’s Foundation will proudly be displayed on the hood of the No. 8
Ford Taurus recently purchased from Robert Yates Racing, with horsepower
provided by Roush Racing. Our first race together will be at Kentucky Speedway
on May 13th, 2006 in the Kentucky ARCA 150. For further schedule and race
information, please visit _http://www.arcaracing.com_
(http://www.arcaracing.com/) The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation logo will remain intact on the hood
for the remainder of the season.
The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation relies on financial support from
individuals, community groups and organizations. The Tim Hortons chain is their
largest supporter with its annual Camp Day event and the coin boxes located
in all stores. The Foundation also hosts fundraising golf tournaments. In
addition you can donate to the charity by visiting the official site of Tim
Hortons at _http://www.timhortons.com_ (http://www.timhortons.com/) It is thanks
to their many friends and donors that they help so many children each year.
With the above being said, giving back is nothing new to S&H Motorsports and
the team will step it up a notch in 2006 by donating 50% of their race
winnings for each event they compete in to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation. “
This is a small token to show how much we believe and support the foundation,
?? explained Bixman. “We feel that by donating the winnings from our races
it will allow more children to attend the camps, it wasn’t a hard decision.??
_SandHMotorsports.com_ (http://www.sandhmotorsports.com/) will have a
donation link available for anyone who would like to donate to this honorable
charity. The team is asking support from race fans all over the United States
and Canada to donate a minimum of $1.00 towards this year’s camp experiences.
S&H Motorsports this week will start the donations off with a check for
$2,500.00. “This shows how, S&H Motorsports is making an extra effort to help
this program hopefully with massive support from the race fans,?? replied
Bixman. “By adding an additional link, hopefully the camp could see some of the
biggest financial support yet.??
S&H Motorsports is not only reaching out to fans for support, but
challenging outside friends, suppliers and vendors as well. For each contribution of
$250.00 or more, S&H Motorsports will place a company logo or personal
autograph on the deck lid of the No. 8 Ford Taurus for the 2006 season. At the end
of the season, the deck lid will be auctioned off with the funds being donated
back into The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation. “It’s an easy challenge,??
remarked Howard. “I don’t think there is a better way for charity
donations to be used when it’s going towards the leaders of the future.??
An added bonus for the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation will be exclusively
provided by the live television on-board cameras. The team has obtained the
cameras for any televised event on the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. “
The on-board cameras are one of the most powerful publicity tools available to
us,?? Howard said. “It’s another way for us to promote the Foundation and
allow others to explore the good this program really does do.??
Prior to heading to the event, the S&H Motorsports team will participate in
the second open test session of the year at the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway
facility in Sparta, Kentucky on Monday, May 1st, 2006.
“The Kentucky Speedway test will mark our first on track efforts this season,
?? mentioned Bixman, an ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
driver. “S&H Motorsports is taking this season very seriously and we want to
make sure that everything is in place allowing us to be a serious threat for
the win.??
