Nissan picks site for plant in Russia
MOSCOW February 28, 2006; Japan Today reported that Nissan Motor Co has selected a site outside of St Petersburg for its proposed car-assembly factory in Russia, Interfax news agency reported Monday.
Citing a source close to talks between Nissan and the city of St Petersburg, the Russian news agency said the automaker has picked a 100-hectare site near the Gorskaya train stop. A Nissan official in Russia said that the company has been studying the Russian market but that nothing concrete had been decided on whether to build its own plant in the country.
