Geneva - February 27, 2006: Opel presents one world premiere and a host of new products to the international public at the 76th Geneva Motor Show (March 2 - 12, 2006). The all-new GT will be shown for the first time on Opel’s stand in Hall 2 of Geneva's Palexpo. With exciting, sharply-cut lines, rear-wheel drive and a 260 hp turbo engine, the new sports car echoes the successful concept of the original GT, which was launched by Opel in 1968. Sales of the new two-seater are expected to start in spring 2007.

Two other models are under the spotlight at the show to complete Opel’s impressive open-air range. The dynamic Astra TwinTop cabrio-coupé with three-part retractable steel roof is a full-fledged, versatile four-seater and will be available in Opel showrooms in May, just in time for the open-air season. Like the Tigra TwinTop, the Astra boasts a clever roof design that combines ample passenger and luggage space with balanced body dimensions.

The multi-variable Meriva minivan also shows off its new look on Opel’s stand, with an updated design, new engines and exclusive high-tech package. A brand new member of the Meriva program is the high-performance Meriva OPC, with 180 hp turbo engine and a top speed of over 220 km/h. The Meriva OPC expands the sporty, exclusive OPC family to five, together with the Astra OPC, Zafira OPC, Vectra OPC and Vectra Station Wagon OPC. The new version of the Zafira 1.6 CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) with monovalent natural gas propulsion boasts exemplary economy and environmental compatibility.

Opel also presents a selection of its current models in Geneva, which are now more diverse and attractive than ever before. The new top-of-the-line engine in the Opel Signum is the 2.8-liter, V6 turbo S ECOTEC with 184 kW/250 hp (formerly 169 kW/230 hp), making the Signum Sport even faster and more refined. The top model in Opel's fleet comes with 18-inch alloy wheels in Y-spoke design as standard, emphasizing its dynamic character. The second new Signum engine is the ultra-modern 1.8-liter gasoline unit with 103 kW/140 hp, familiar from the Zafira. The four-valve, four-cylinder unit is now also available in Astra and Vectra models.
