Greg Anderson runner up in Pro Stock at Phoenix

CHANDLER, Ariz. (February 26, 2006) - After qualifying No. 1 for the
42nd time in his career, three time defending POWERade champion Greg
Anderson, driver of the KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock
Pontiac GTO, finished in the runner up spot at today's eliminations at
the NHRA Checker Schuck's Kragen Nationals.

As he advanced through the first three rounds, Anderson defeated Allen
Johnson, Jim Yates and Greg Stanfield to reach his 59th career final
round and his 4th final round against Warren Johnson.

In their first three final rounds, Johnson has two victories. The last
time the pair met in a final round was the 2004 Winternationals with
Anderson coming away with the win light.

Today's win light went to Johnson when mechanical problems derailed
Anderson's Summit Racing Pontiac. "It either jumped out of gear or
broke; I'm not sure which until we get it out of the car," said
Anderson, after the final round. "It went into second gear for a tenth
or two of a second then came out. We had a little bit of tire shake so
that could have been the cause making it jump of gear or could have even
broke it. I think we had enough to get the win if problems hadn't set
in. The timing where it happened was all wrong.

"We're going to go back home and work hard on our engine program and our
car program and try to make it even better yet. We got a great program
now but we feel we can still make it better. We'll go at them again in
Gainesville."

The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series now moves to the East Coast when
the ACDelco Gatornationals unfolds at Gainesville (Fla.) Raceway, March
16-19.

ESPN2 airs same-day television coverage of eliminations tonight (Feb.
26) from 7 until 10 p.m. The elimination show repeats early Tuesday
morning (Feb. 28) from 3-5 a.m. Television times are Eastern Time (ET)
and subject to change at anytime. Check local listings.
